Another Great Week

First of all Congratulations are in order!

Leianna completed her first 1/2 Marathon at Whidbey Island
Ericka ran Boston! Yes she finished and was safe, she was done before the bombs hit.
Toni had a great time at the Wenatchee 1/2, said it was a great race. Maybe next year for some of us.

Next week we have Eugene, Nashville and Nike's WA DC 1/2  racers, wish them luck - more in the next Post.

The hiking, biking and running groups are all going full steam ahead now. Something for everyone.

Bikes, runs and spring storms

Our Saturday ride was lucky with clouds and a few sun breaks instead of the predicted downpour. The storm came later in the day, with thunder, lightning and hail. On Sunday's run/walk we saw remnants of the hail (sure looked like snow) and a large downed tree. Some people choose an interesting way over the tree, many of us preferred the step over on the right approach.

April Showers

The showers on Sunday gave us 2x the "normal" rainfall for April, so hopefully we are done for a while. Kudos to the 40 runners and walkers who showed up for the 12 and 6 mile workout! There were so many different kinds of birds out though and quite fascinating, really. Here's a picture of Coots, but there was a pair of Common Merganser, Cormorants and Blue Herons.

And a lucky 4 leaf clover discovered on the Burke Gilman during my 20 mile run!

No Rain Luck

This has been a spectacular week.
The Saturday short distance bike ride started with an awesome ride in the sunshine.
The Sunday run/walk group "sprinted" around the neighborhoods seeing spectacular gardens.
The Tuesday group missed the sprinkles and passed by the Troll unharmed.
The Wednesday bike skills class worked on finding balance and took advantage of the sun staying out longer.
The Thursday group had a little rain at the start, but scattered when they saw they couldn't keep us in.
The Saturday hike group had an awesome time in the beautiful mossy forests of Lord Hill Regional Park and took advantage of the 4 hour dry free part of the day with no rain and some sunshine.

Yeah to the springtime in the northwest!
