Summer is really here now

Seafair is happening and the weather has finally caught up. Last weekend was the Seafair Triathlon and this year they had an olympic distance, in addition to the sprint distance.

Sarah A and Scott had amazing sprint races and Sarah came away with a 1st place WIN in her age group!

Ruth and Arturo did fabulous in their olympic races and Ruth placed 2nd in her age group!

Last Sunday as I was running past the Sand Point Golf course I saw 4 woodpeckers on two dead trees. They were really cool, I looked them up and think they were pileated woodpeckers. Maybe a bird specialist in the group knows better. Here's a photo.

See Jane Run 1/2 Marathon

Wow, what a day! Race route was exactly what we expected. Mostly flat with a couple of uphills (yea!), and a couple of steep downhills (boo!) and lots of tight corners. The race was well organized and the champagne at the end (a few hours later), was yummy, the chocolate was okay, not my favorite, but I bet no one complained.

The weather - well, it was warm and HUMID! The rain started about 10:30 (8 am start) and had periods of drizzle mixed with some harder down pours. It rained especially hard while we were waiting for the awards ceremony (Anneke and Tristan placed in their age groups) and the rest of the team to finish the race.  A few others had PR's: Rachel and Sarah, that I know of right as I write this and Barbara C finished her first 1/2!! Go Team!
